Can you apply ONLINE for TD CANADA TRUST STUDENT CREDIT CARD? What site has the application form
Jeffrey replied: "You can't do it online. It says to go to your local branch and apply."
2 questions...one about applying for a student credit card, and one about starting an online business.? Sorry that I didn't write the question in the question box.
But ok, I am in college, and applied for a chase visa card. Im 19, so I only am gonna make about 15,000-20,000 this year (manager at a mcdonalds) The only reason I applied was to have a credit card to start an online business of some sort ( give me ideas if you can) I also applied so I could start building my credit since I have NONE.
What do you think? Will I be denied the credit card...(remember its a student card) . . . and do any of you have any experience with starting an online business, or experience with making good money on the internet?
I really appreciate you guys helpin' me out.
Oh believe me, I know the evil that credit cards can bring, I've seen many people fall into DEEP DEEP debt from credit cards.
I don't see it as free money, I would rather not go to the bar and have a fun time and I would rather be able to buy a house and some nice cars when I get a little older.
I dont want a credit card to waste my money and fall into debt, I want it to have a better future for myself....if that makes any sense at all. My parents raised me well, and always told me how evil credit cards are.
abel jarrod replied: "In today's academic world, most students need a college student credit card and the good news is that the offers for these are plentiful. Many creditors are very anxious to have the new college student apply for and get approved for a student credit card, because they realize that if they can strike up a good relationship with this customer at this young age, then it is highly likely that they will be their customer for life. And make no mistake about it, the credit card industry is making money hand over fist these days, especially since very few consumers pay their entire bill in full at the end of the month, so all those interest charges add up.
But the ease of getting a college student credit card is also the bad news because many college students have not yet learned responsible financial management. The temptations when a student is away from home, living in the dorm or an apartment, are tremendous spending a little here to have a night out at the bar or dance club, spending a little there to chip in for a keg of beer, whipping out the plastic to get airline tickets (even though they are a great deal) for the spring break trip to Florida, and the list goes on.
What happens is that the student is tempted to view this as "free money" since there are not dollars bills floating out of his wallet at the time of the purchase, so it almost seems like they are getting something for "play money". But make no mistake about it, there is nothing fictional about the fact that this student has just racked up some charges on that college student credit card, and it will be a taste of stark reality when he starts to get calls from the credit card issuer asking for payments to be made on time. get all information about it at:"

abby fth replied: "In the multi-dimensional and fast paced world of today you need to inculcate knowledge about money management in children from a young age. Since children generally move away from home to attend college they need to learn about credit cards and how to use them. Finance education is important as children who taste independent living for the first time can go astray when in the company of undisciplined peers.
Most parents introduce their kids to the use and management of credit cards while they are living at home. As soon as a child turns 18 parents may: give the child a "companion card" to their personal credit card or get the child a student credit card.
Student credit cards are especially formulated for use by students and have certain restrictions in built to protect the student from over spending.
The bank or institution offering a student credit card will initial offer a limit of USD 500-1000. Increases in credit limit are okayed if a parent or guardian becomes a co signer and takes responsibility for payment of bills. Read more about student credit card at:"
Does it hurt to Apply for Credit Cards if you have no Credit History? hi, i just turned 18, never had any credit cards, never paid any bills, and i applied online for my bank of america student card, however, i was denied even though i met the qualifications, so i reapplied again online, i was wondering if doing this would bring my credit score down even though i dont have a "credit score" to begin with.
Thanks in advance
diamondlil928 replied: "Every time you apply and are denied, this will bring down your credit rating. I realize that you are not trying to buy a motorcycle, but this will explain in plain terms what happens when your credit is brought up, and that it effects your credit negatively.. Read the part that reads not to have your credit pulled excessively.
Jonathan T knows this is true also. We are trying to help you."
TONY R replied: "no"
carina replied: "it will not hurt to apply....most credit card companies want you to be approved because ultimately they make money. although, having no credit is bad, because later in life it will help you out when you buy your first car, house, etc. I would suggest just applying for one that they send in the mail. even if you don't ever use it, it will build your credit. then, you can get one at the bank of your choice."
Susan M replied: "Try to get a card. If one company won't take you , try another. Keep up with your payments. Buy little things and pay them off right away. That will help you build your credit score."
usfentrepreneur replied: "If you don't have any credit history and you apply for credit it will not hurt your rating because you don't have any yet. The best thing you can do is get a co-signer like a parent to help you out with getting a credit card and then you will slowly build up credit history. My parents co-signed for me when I was 18 and I started building up my credit and by the time I was 20 I bought a Suzuki GSXR 750 by myself with no one but my credit the bike cost 10K and I got it all on my own. Be smart with your credit and pay your bills on time and you will slowly build it up."
Adrienne C replied: "Try to get a secured credit card first. Use it occasionally and always pay on time. This will help build your credit and a good payment history will build good credit."
Starry Eyes replied: "well if you want to build up your credit go to your bank and tell them that that's what you want to do. i don't think it can bring your credit score down cuz there's nothing to bring down. it's not like they keep track of how many times they deny people cards. i got a card with a low limit just to build up my ccredit for when i get married. they may also suggest a personal line of credit. good luck!"
Henry W replied: "Applying for credit cards would not hurt your credit rating. The only thing that could hurt your credit is when you are late in payments.
If you were turned down by banks, may be you should try the department store or gas station credit cards. They are higher in interest but are easier to get. Make your payment on time. Charge only what you can pay for. Once you build up your credit rating, you will be able to get bank credit cards."
Jonathan T replied: "Every time someone does a "hard inquiry" about your credit, it goes on your credit report. A "hard inquiry" occurs every time you apply for credit. I think you should stop applying for credit and look into doing things that make you more credit-worthy, like paying bills and holding jobs.
Creditors want to know you pay your bills on time. That's a good place to start.
At 18, the only reason you should hold a credit card is for the purposes of charging for things you already pay for (like bills) and paying your balance in full each month.
Anyway, I think the answer is "yes." Applying for credit repeatedly DOES hurt your credit score."
mangaya2 replied: "Check to be sure that all information you enter on line are correct. If so then call customer service to find out why application denied.

IBesides, someday Im going to have to use credit to buy stuff I actually need, like a house or a car, so I decided that my first purchase should be something fun."
How do i apply for credit card? I am a 16-year-old college student and i want to apply for a credit card/student card but I don't know where and how to start. The reason i want to avail a credit card is because i want to work online but i totally have no idea where to start. Anybody who can give me infos about that?? Thanks! ^_^
Darrell replied: "You cannot apply for credit until your 18 years old. You can have your parents check with their bank to see if they can open an acct with a VISA/DEBIT card."
nad basher replied: "Sorry, you can't apply for one until your 18....
Also you mentioned that you are working online right? Well I think I have a idea how you are making money and if it's what I think then it probably will help you to know that prepaid giftcard credit cards don't work on most websites. So save yourself the money of buying one and get a real credit card when you can."
Sgt Big Red replied: "First of all you must be 18, but sad to say thanks to Obama, you have no chance for a few years.
The new credit card rules, which go into effect in nine months, prohibit companies from giving cards to people under 21 unless they can prove they have the means to pay the debt or a parent or guardian co-signs.
Hope this helps answer your question."
Relanis replied: "You can not make a credit card if not the age of 18 years and still do not have earnings
My suggestion, if you want to do business online, you can use the savings account to the list on the paypall"
Ur Credit replied: "you could start by going to and comparing all student credit cards side by side one you pick one just apply."

applying for multiple credit cards bad? Hi,
I am new college student who has just recently opened a bank account. Prior to opening the account I was denied for a Discover credit card due to lack of bank account. after the opening for the accounts, I applied for a bank credit card but got denied due to below minimum income( they don't have student credit cards).
Then I thought to apply for a Citibank student credit card, I was also denied due to bank account two recent & lack of banking activity. I figure I would applied for Discover one last time since now I do have a bank account. This will be my last attempt to get a credit card. which i will probably be denied.
I realize that after all this...by applying for multiple cards when a short period of time is bad for credit since each credit inquiry counts against you.
How bad do you think my 4 credit inquiries will effect my credit since i had no credit to start with? How long do you suggest I wait before attempting to apply again.
btw: i just want the credit cards so i can buy my textbooks online via ebay, half.com and amazon.
thanks
micki replied: "It's not good to have several inquiries on your report, true. I'd hold on making any further applications unless you had strong reason to believe it will be profitable.
Getting started has never been too easy, but in today's "credit crunch", it's even harder. Anyone with a bank account can get a secured credit card though, and you can use this to establish a history. Don't confuse a secured credit card with a debit card. A bank debit card offers no protection against theft or fraud while a secured card provides you with all the same benefits of an unsecured card. (at least with a secured card, you can use it for what you've written need.)"
Don M replied: "Not smart. It can and will affect your credit score."
Sgt Big Red replied: "Yes, too many credit applications lowers your score.
What you need to do to establish credit is save some funds and open a secured credit card account at a credit union (they are easier then the regular banks).
This means you deposit say $500 and get a credit card with a $500 limit, the credit union holds your funds for security. The more you deposit in the account, the more credit you are issued.
After a year of making payments on time, you should then be able to apply for a card as you have established some form of history that a creditor can check.
Make sure you DON'T miss any payments, that is the worst that can happen.
You could also try to open a pay-pal account to buy on line as most large merchandisers take pay-pal and all you need is a checking account.

Hope this helps answer your question."
Closing Student Credit Card? I have recently applied and approved for Citi Divided Student Card last month (September). However, due to their poor customer services, problems and etc. I've began to dislike everything about them. For example, ever since I was approved for the card the 22nd of last month and til this day I still haven't receive my PIN. I've already requested several time and all they can do for me is send me another. Well, I've decided to close this card and apply for the Student Discover Card. However, I haven't done so yet. I've already made online transaction to the Citi Card and have already paid in full. I know closing my first credit card will hurt me and applying for a new one as well. What is your key suggestion?
bpholla2131 replied: "I would not close it. Closing credit cards can hurt your credit score because it makes your debt to credit limit ratio worse. I would just keep it open and not use it if you don't want to."
Niel replied: "Just leave it open... that way you can earn history with them, but just don't use them"
WHy is it taking 30 days to get a response from an online credit card application? I applied online yesteray for my first credit card and they said I would get a response within 30 days. Why does it take so long? Is it because I have no credit and it was a student credit card? Also, I said I had both savings and a checking account but right now I only have a savings but will be getting a checking account on Saturday. Is it ok that I said I had both a checkings and a saving? Will it make them reject my application? Are they eager to give a credit card to someone like me, a young person likely to give them money for interest? I am just anxious about the whole thing. I am going to be responsible with it because I am careful with all my money.
also I didn't know what they meant by residence when they asked rent or own? do they seriously expect me to pay for rent at this age? So I selected "Other" and put zero paid month;y for my residence because that is what I pay, I mean I help my mom out sometimes but thats it.
lol iceman, I said I made 6K a year because that is what I made in 2005
well it was labled a student credit card....being wary should be expected of them if they think this.
yeah it was CHASE
what is the purpose of advertising student credit cards then?? they are designed for people like me who have no creidt. thanks for not answering my question.
jcleann13 replied: "dude it means u do not have enough established credit or u have bad credit other than that they will let you know right then and there"
Iceman replied: "advice.....LIE... i got a $2500 max platinum card and im only 19 and can barely pay my bills and i work at a fast food joint :P
just put down you make around 40k a year..and your good to go :p"
brand name user replied: "the only thing more dangerous than someone with bad credit is someone with no credit. they are wary of you since you have no established credit, your a student blah blah blah. it takes them awhile to verify your status, residence, job (if you have one), and your account status. if you had established credit then it wouldn;t necessarily take this long to approve or deny your application. if you do get this one and are financilly responsible; when you apply for other cards in the future, the response time will be a lot quicker. basically, once they can pin you down, see you can make payments, you'll get it."
mega replied: "my son, who is 21 and has credit already, got the same response from CHASE offer. but then in less than two weeks, he got his approval and card in the mail! just wait it out and good luck. credit is a necessary evil these days, but please, please, please...don't be foolish and spend foolishly. think before you charge anything, now or whenever. it's neat at the time to buy something at that moment, but the payments on your bill will arrive and you can pay forever!!! it does not feel good then!"
lf replied: "It ussually means you didn't get it but they say wait 30 days because someone (person not computer) is going to review you aplication and figure out if you deserve their card or not...if that was your first card aplication I say they'll say no because it sound like you did it with a big name company right?
when aplying for the first time you should go for department stores or jewelry places, once you have a credit card with a couple of those places wait a few months and than apply with a big company and you'll get it...well as long as you pay everything or a big portion of what you owe to the other places you got a card from..."
I'm applying for a student credit card for the first time? Hi! Im 18 and I'm from Alberta. I was just wondering what are some good credit cards for me? I want a LOW limit, like $500. I want low interest rates and VERY little or no annual fee at all!
I looked at some of the credit cards at the local banks here (CIBC, TD CANADA TRUST & SCOTIABANK) But the interest rates are 18% and I want lower then that :S.
Is it better and safer to apply for a credit card at the local banks? Or is it just as safe to apply for them online, like citi financial? I hear a lot good things about this card! If anyone knows about this card, gimme some info as well on that ;).
THANKS!!! 5 stars for the best!
Cliff replied: "if you don't plan to carry a balance the interest rate won't matter. try for the citi card, it's not bad."
Instant Approval Student Credit Cards? Where can i apply online and get a same day instant approval student credit card? ThaNKS!
William S replied: "mm....store credit card, they'll give you a "temporary" number to use right there until the real card arrives.
Otherwise, while you can get approved immediately (some on links) I don't think you'll find cards that can be used right away."
harish replied: "Small steps like paying your bills on time and using only part of the credit available to you. Also use your credit cards for making small payments regularly, so that it is reflected in your credit record. More tips available at"
farran abat replied: "Apply online for at: and get instance approval."
Mikhail S replied: "Try one of this offers:"
spawanee replied: "Check out side across the street from your local university, the news says they are all around!"
